Electronics and Systems Engineer

Job Description

Overview:

Core Responsibilities:

System Design and Integration:

• Design, prototype, and assemble embedded systems integrating sensors, lighting, sound, actuators, and special effects.
• Independently select materials, components, and microcontrollers based on project needs and constraints.
• Modify or enhance existing setups to add new functionalities or improve reliability.
• Work with a range of display technologies including screens, projectors, and video equipment.

Troubleshooting and Optimization:

• Diagnose and resolve issues using datasheets, documentation, and logical troubleshooting techniques.
• Maintain and optimize existing systems, ensuring durability and performance in field deployments.
• Conduct site visits to support installations, testing, or troubleshooting, as needed.

Collaboration and Innovation:

• Work closely with mechanical, firmware, and software engineers to bring ideas to life.
• Contribute to ideation sessions and prototyping discussions with a focus on feasibility and innovation.
• Stay curious and proactive in learning about new interactive technologies and creative applications of electronics.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in electronics design, embedded systems, or related hands-on engineering roles.

Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of electronics principles and components.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for embedded development.
• Familiarity with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar microcontroller ecosystems.
• Basic knowledge of actuators including brushed DC motors, steppers, and servos.
• Working knowledge of DMX protocols and integration is a plus.
• Experience working with Linux/Ubuntu-based systems is a plus.

Additional Information:

• Industry Focus: Experience in experiential technology, AV integration, live events, art-tech installations, or similar domains is highly beneficial.
• Reporting and Performance: Report to the Technical Manager. Performance evaluated based on system reliability, quality of delivery, team collaboration, and problem-solving ability.
