Junior Accountant

Job Description

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant with prior experience in an engineering companywhether in contracting or consultingto join our finance team. This role is critical in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and assisting in the preparation of reports that contribute to the overall efficiency and compliance of the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, a keen eye for detail, and familiarity with the unique financial workflows of engineering projects, including cost tracking, project billing, and vendor management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Process supplier invoices, client billings, and expense claims in a timely and accurate manner.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing financial reports, project cost summaries, and budget tracking for engineering projects.
• Monitor project-related expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
• Coordinate with project managers and procurement teams to ensure proper cost allocation and documentation.
• Manage petty cash transactions and maintain related records.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
• Liaise with auditors, banks, and other external parties as required.
• Perform other finance-related tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within an engineering company (contracting or consulting).
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, financial reporting, and project cost accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or similar) and MS Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with UAE VAT regulations is an advantage.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information responsibly.
