We have an opening for the position of Accounts Assistant in a leading Shipping company based in Dubai ,UAE
Employment Type: PermanentReports to: Accounting Manager
Location: Dubai
Role and Responsibilities:
- Financial & Management Accounts
Ensure timely closing of monthly accounts and preparation of Profit & Loss reports by
service in line with reporting deadlines.
Prepare and update monthly run-off schedules for provisions of operating costs.
Match and clear provision accounts to ensure accuracy of financial records.- Agents Management
Verify and post agents disbursements accurately on a monthly basis.
Ensure timely receipt of documents from agents for processing.
Maintain up-to-date reconciliations of agents accounts and resolve disputes promptly.
Ensure correct and timely funding of agents.- Creditors Management
and arrange payments by due dates.
Process miscellaneous cost invoices (e.g., Renom, Invitation to Tender (ITT)), including
obtaining approvals, posting, and arranging payments.
Issue invoices to customers for cost recovery.
Process and post creditors invoices upon receipt and approval from responsible person-
in-charge, and arrange timely payments.
Perform bunker matching for vessels.
Issue invoices for recovery of costs debited by agents and other creditors.
Prepare freight tax reports as required by the India office.- Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist Line Manager (LM) and Accounts Manager (AM) in annual budget preparation and
quarterly forecasts.
Review and verify accuracy of budget and forecast inputs.- Audit Support
Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents as required by auditors.
Ensure audit requests are handled accurately and within deadlines.
Job Requirements
Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Preferably at least 2 years of accounting experience (preferably in shipping, logistics, or
related industry).
Experience in accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal stakeholders and
external agents.
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Meticulous, proactive, and adaptable to fast-paced environments.
Knowledge of shipping or logistics accounting processes will be an advantage.
