Quantum & Spin Lab Post-doctoral Associate or Research Associate Position
Quantum & Spin Lab in the Chemistry Program within the Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled post-doctoral associate or research associate to join our team starting 1st January 2026.This position offers an exceptional opportunity to be part of a cutting-edge research environment focused on synthetic organic chemistry, fluorescent materials, and advanced NMR techniques.
Research Focus
Our laboratory is engaged in the design and synthesis of novel organic compounds exhibiting spin and light-emissive properties. These compounds play a pivotal role in dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) sensing, a technique that significantly enhances nuclear spin signal.Candidates will contribute to the development of new classes of organic molecules tailored for DNP-NMR applications, benefiting from NYUADu2019s state-of-the-art research infrastructure for organic synthesis and molecular characterization.
Key Responsibilities- Design, synthesis, and characterization of complex organic molecules which play a pivotal role in DNP.
- Employ advanced NMR/MRI methods for structural analysis and DNP-related studies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within NYUAD and international partners.
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, grant proposals, and conference presentations.
- Assist in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students as part of the labu2019s training mission.
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field, with a strong focus on organic synthesis and spectroscopic characterization.
- Minimum three years of postdoctoral research experience, ideally in the field of fluorescent organic molecules or multi-step synthesis of organic molecules.
- Demonstrated proficiency in NMR spectroscopy; prior exposure to DNP NMR techniques is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to independently design and execute complex synthetic pathways.
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- High degree of scientific creativity, initiative, and problem-solving capability.
