JOB TITLE & JOB DESCRIPTION: SITE INSPECTOR - ELECTRICAL
John R Harris & Partners Dubai is currently looking for Site Inspector - Electrical to join our growing supervision team to support recent project appointments in UAE.
The Electrical Inspector is responsible for inspecting and monitoring electrical installations on hospitality construction projects to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, international standards, and UAE regulatory requirements.The role focuses on maintaining high-quality electrical installations that meet the operational and safety requirements of hotels, resorts, and other hospitality facilities.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect electrical installations including power distribution, lighting systems, ELV systems, and fire alarm systems.
- Ensure electrical works are executed in accordance with approved shop drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Verify installation of electrical equipment such as transformers, LV panels, MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, cable trays, conduits, and wiring.
- Monitor cable laying, termination, labelling, and containment systems.
- Supervise electrical installations in guest rooms, suites, corridors, lobbies, restaurants, kitchens, spas, and conference areas.
- Ensure compliance with hospitality operational standards related to lighting quality, energy efficiency, and guest comfort.
- Coordinate installation of decorative lighting, architectural lighting, and lighting control systems typically used in hotel projects.
- Inspect installation of Extra Low Voltage systems including:
- Structured cabling systems
- CCTV systems
- Access control systems
- Public Address systems
- IPTV and hotel communication systems
- Verify integration of electrical systems with Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Witness testing and commissioning of electrical systems including generators, UPS systems, transformers, lighting control systems, and earthing systems.
- Verify cable testing including insulation resistance tests and continuity tests.
- Witness testing and integration of fire alarm systems with other life safety systems.
- Review contractor inspection requests and perform site inspections.
- Prepare inspection reports, site observation reports, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when required.
- Maintain records of electrical inspections, approvals, and testing documentation.
- Review and verify electrical material submittals.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and architectural inspectors to ensure proper integration of building services.
- Attend site coordination meetings with contractors and project consultants.
- Monitor contractor progress and highlight any technical issues or delays related to electrical works.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree/ Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 58 years of experience in electrical inspection within construction projects.
- At least 23 years of experience in hospitality projects such as hotels, resorts, or serviced apartments.
- Previous experience with engineering consultants in the UAE is preferred.
