Role Purpose
The VP / Director – Finance provides strategic financial leadership to the D&M business, ensuring alignment with Group financial governance and performance objectives. The role partners closely with the CEO – D&M and Group CFO to drive value creation, support decision-making, and ensure strong financial control, reporting, and talent development across the function.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Business Partnership- Act as a key financial advisor to the CEO – D&M, supporting strategy, growth initiatives, and operational decisions
- Support international expansion, including financial and legal structuring for new market entry
- Provide financial insight for bidding strategies, contract structuring, project profitability, and capital allocation
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range business planning
- Support M&A, JVs, and partnerships from evaluation through execution and integration
- Drive profitability, cash flow optimisation, and cost discipline across the business
- Oversee project financial management including contract accounting, margin analysis, risk, and claims
- Develop business models for new markets, opportunities, and operating structures
- Ensure strong financial controls aligned with Group policies and governance standards
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to executive leadership and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, audit requirements, and internal controls
- Manage relationships with auditors, advisors, and financial institutions
- Build and lead a high-performing finance organisation
- Develop succession planning, capability building, and continuous improvement culture
- Strengthen collaboration between D&M Finance and Group Finance functions
Candidate Profile
Experience- Senior finance leadership experience (VP/Director level) in contracting-based industries such as construction, marine, infrastructure, or industrial services
- Strong experience in international market entry and business expansion (Asia, Africa, Middle East preferred)
- Experience in dredging and marine industry is advantageous
- Proven executive-level stakeholder management experience
- Experience in M&A, joint ventures, or strategic transactions
- Strong expertise in contract accounting, project finance, and performance management
- Advanced financial modelling and commercial analysis skills
- Strong understanding of risk management, governance, and internal controls
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen
- Strong influencing and communication skills at executive and board level
- Results-driven with high analytical capability
- Strong people leadership and team development focus
- High integrity and sound judgement in complex environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent) preferred
- MBA or advanced business qualification is an advantage
