Key responsibilities- Ensure that all commissioning activities are completed in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Provide day-to-day support to Commissioning Engineer/Commissioning Coordinator.
- Set up technical teams and monitor progress to schedule.
- Confirm and arrange suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) is available to all personnel under supervision.
- Arrange permit to work (PTW) and toolbox talks in line with HSE requirements prior to work start-up.
- Be continually present on the field to guarantee the quality and progress of the work.
- Lead a team of technicians, operators, and subcontractors to safely execute the work.
- Analyze team performance against schedule and report or advise any changes required to maintain progress to line management.
- Monitor availability of personnel to complete planned workloads.
- Liaise with other disciplines to ensure work fronts are available as required.
- Ensure transport is available for site teams.
- Identify initiatives to improve work within pre-commissioning and commissioning.
- Prepare all testing dossiers along with proper documentation to safely execute the work (drawings, procedures, etc.).
- Keep technically updated through the study of related technical literature including procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure correct tool packages are available along with detailed comprehensive commissioning procedures for individual jobs.
- Review spare parts and spare usage against plan.
- Investigate causes of defective operation of systems and equipment including interfaces to other systems and suggest modifications to equipment or operational conditions.
- Ensure that commissioning procedures are adhered to and complete all necessary documentation to facilitate work and update records.
- Ensure full compliance with company fire, safety, and environmental procedures and standards in all executed work tasks and actively contribute to section HSE.
- Identify potential HSSE risks related to commissioning and take appropriate steps to mitigate them.
- Ensure commissioning area is controlled, all energized systems clearly marked and barricaded off. Access control in place, simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) carefully assessed and controlled.
- Provide inputs to relevant parties to ensure minimum standby time for vendor representatives and avoid their revisits.
- Accurately interpret and understand P&IDs, process flow diagrams, circuit diagrams, and control narratives to avoid rework or time lost due to incorrect interpretation.
- Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
- Provide day-to-day support to field commissioning team during site acceptance testing (SAT), energization, and functional testing activities.
- Prepare all testing dossiers along with proper documentation to safely execute the work (drawings, procedures, single line diagrams, schematic logic diagrams, etc.).
- Work on SMCC, MCC, SCADA systems, transformers, switchgear, motors, and heater testing.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure work fronts are available as required.
- Organize and run large teams of technicians and subcontractors.
- Execute electrical commissioning activities and guide technicians during work execution.
- Ensure electrical testing procedures are strictly followed by technicians and subcontractors and record tests on testing sheet reports.
- Troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Review spare part usage against plan.
- Monitor availability of personnel to complete planned workload.
