Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Project Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely execution of project deliverables. This role supports project managers and site teams with planning expertise, forecasting, progress measurement, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed project schedules using tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather inputs for project planning.
  • Monitor project progress against the baseline schedule and identify risks or delays.
  • Prepare look-ahead schedules and forecast resources, manpower, and materials.
  • Analyze schedule deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Generate weekly/monthly progress reports for internal and client use.
  • Support cost control and earned value management (EVM) integration with planning.
  • Ensure alignment between the project schedule and contract requirements.
  • Participate in planning meetings and progress reviews with stakeholders.
  • Update and maintain project documentation, including progress charts, logs, and schedules.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
  • Minimum 35 years of experience in project planning, preferably in [construction / infrastructure / oil & gas / MEP / industrial projects].
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, critical path method (CPM), and earned value management.
  • Familiarity with construction methods and resource planning.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • PMP or PSP certification is a plus.
