Job Purpose
The Procurement Manager Civil is responsible for leading the procurement function for
civil construction materials and consumables across multiple large-scale projects. This role
plays a critical part in ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality-assured material
acquisition.
It involves strategic sourcing, vendor development, procurement planning, team leadership,and cross-functional collaboration with project, engineering, and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities- Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute procurement strategies in alignment with project schedules, cost
- Prepare and maintain procurement plans for all active and upcoming projects.
- Monitor market trends to ensure competitiveness and identify new sourcing
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of procurement professionals including engineers,
- Assign responsibilities, set objectives, and evaluate team performance.
- Conduct regular training and development sessions to enhance team capabilities and
- Vendor Management & Strategic Sourcing
- Identify, evaluate, and manage a robust supplier base for civil construction materials.
- Oversee vendor prequalification, performance evaluations, and continuous
- Build and sustain strong supplier relationships to ensure favorable terms, reliability,
and quality.
-Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements to optimize value and reduce risk.- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate closely with project managers, site teams, design engineers, and finance
to ensure procurement aligns with project needs and timelines.
-Resolve procurement-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to project
progress.- Facilitate effective communication between internal departments and external
- Compliance, Reporting & Documentation
- Ensure procurement processes comply with company policies, industry standards, and
- Maintain accurate records, contracts, and documentation for audits and internal
- Provide regular reports, dashboards, and insights to senior management on
procurement status, risks, and savings.
Key Requirements
Education:
Bachelor&aposs degree in Civil Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
MBA or Postgraduate Diploma in Procurement or Supply Chain Management
(preferred).
Experience:
- 812 years of progressive experience in procurement within the construction industry.
- Minimum 35 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
- Strong experience in sourcing civil materials and consumables for large projects.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
-In-depth knowledge of construction materials, market dynamics, and supplier
networks.- Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
-Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills.
-Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
