Senior Quantity Surveyor

Stantec is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Buildings team in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of major building projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in cost management, contract administration, claims management, variation assessment, procurement support, and project financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all quantity surveying and commercial activities on building projects.
- Prepare cost estimates, quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender documentation, and contract documents.
- Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project requirements.
- Review, evaluate, and negotiate variations, claims, extension of time submissions, and additional cost claims.
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim payment applications and final accounts.
- Monitor project budgets, cash flow, forecasts, and commercial performance.
- Provide commercial and contractual support to Project Managers, Resident Engineers, and project teams.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and final account settlements.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and recommend mitigation measures.
- Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence, commercial documentation, and project financial data.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and relevant authorities on commercial and contractual matters.
- Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and commercial negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Prepare monthly commercial reports and management updates.
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a strong background in commercial and contract management for building projects.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in the UAE.
- Background in consultancy companies is ideal.
- Proven experience delivering commercial services on large-scale building projects, including residential, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, healthcare, or institutional developments.
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and contract administration practices.
- Experience in claims management, variation assessment, cost control, procurement, and final account negotiations.
- Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and commercial management software.
