Job Description
Role : Head of Unsecured PolicyLocation : Abu Dhabi
Role Purpose:
Core Product: Direct responsibility to manage credit portfolios and policies of all unsecured products including Personal Finance, Cards & Al Yusr. The combined exposure of these products currently stands at 34 Bn across 500k + customers, and monthly total booking in these products is close to 2Bn
Ensure that product /credit parameters are constantly refined and fine-tuned in line with the changing macro-economic conditions and the portfolio loss rates and profitability. The job entails ensuring end to end oversight on the credit cycle from starting from the Credit Program till Collections.
Digitization: The role also requires to work with Business, Digital and ITD Teams to ensure that Digital Product Journeys for unsecured retail products are built and implemented helping ADIB to meet the Digitization goals.
Additional Tasks: This role also manages and gives guidance to Finnone resources within Credit team who manage the Rule Engine for unsecured products
Key Accountabilities of the role
Personal finance, Credit Cards and Al Yusr Products:
Credit Policy Management- Design, review and update credit policies for all unsecured retail lending products within the boundaries defined in the Group Risk Framework
- Ensure policies align with regulatory guidelines, internal risk appetite and market best practice.
- Monitor performance of the unsecured lending portfolio and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies
- Use risk analytics to identify trends, adjust policies and maintain portfolio quality within acceptable levels.
- Monitor critical portfolio caps and performance triggers at required intervals and take prompt remedial action when required.
- Undertake monthly and quarterly management reviews to build high standard of discipline and analytic culture in the team with consistent focus on performance
- Ensure approved credit delegations are in place for all unsecured products and approved annually
- Ensure credit scoring models used for decision making are regularly reviewed and refined to capture the changing trends in acquisition behavior, thus remaining within acceptable loss norms
- Manage all internal and external Audits related to unsecured products and ensure satisfactory audit ratings are achieved
- Collaborate with collections and recovery teams to align policies with end-to-end credit lifecycle strategies.
- Partner with Product, Risk, Credit Operations, Shariah and Digital teams to ensure credit policies are business-enabling while maintaining prudent risk controls.
- Liaise with regulators and auditors to ensure full compliance and respond to regulatory examinations.
- Engage and work closely with Digital, Business and ITD teams to launch new Digital Journeys across retail products and segments
- Managing the development & modification of digital credit policies in order to optimize the risk-reward equation i.e. maintaining predictable and acceptable credit loss and delinquency trends without stifling business momentum and growth for Digital Products
- Oversee Rule engine change requests are tracked and prioritized to ensure timely rollout.
- Maintain oversight on Finnone resources managing Rule Engine changes
- Work with the team to automate credit policies and strengthen credit controls
- Manage a team of credit policy analysts and provide strategic direction.
- Foster a risk-aware culture and promote continuous improvement and capability building
- To clearly set objectives for all team members and ensure comprehensive and regular feedback is provided on their performances.
Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge Required for this role:
- Excellent awareness of Credit Management best practices for Retail Banking
- Strong analytical & computer skills. Ability to analyze complex data and use the same to make informed business decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write formal memos and policy documents and present the same.
- Excellent people management & motivational skills for both within & beyond the department
- Good understanding of association and local regulatory environment
- In-depth awareness of local market dynamics, product and competition information
- System friendliness and familiarity from end use & development perspective and exposure to high volume automated Retail Banking environment
- Excellent skills pertaining to gap identification as well project management for automating credit management processes
