Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Review, study, supervise, and provide operational, technical, and engineering expertise on different elements
of process automation which include, but not limited to, process control, advanced process control, optimization, digitalization and higher level applications, alarm management, and process information management systemas per the engineering standards to contribute to 100% HSE, high reliability, performance, profitability, sustainability, and efficiency in the Companyu2019s operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Process Automation Engineeringu2022 Review, study and provide technical and engineering expertise in the field of Process Automation
covering base layer process control, control loop performance assessment, advanced process control, real time optimization, alarm management system, digitalization and automation to contribute inincreasing the Plantu2019s performance and reducing the operating costs.
u2022 Review and recommend, on a periodic basis, improvements to Process Automation systems in
compliance with HSE measures and international standards to promote efficiency.
u2022 Facilitate the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of process automationactivities at the Site to meet the planned output.
u2022 Develop and update the relevant procedures to maintain robust and consistent processes.
u2022 Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing process automation applications and systems in terms
of uptime, performance, monetary benefits, standardization, and obsolescence.
u2022 Conduct judicious analysis on various alternatives for optimum solutions to effectively support the
Plantu2019s operations.
u2022 Lead/review the feasibility studies, conducted by external consultants, to evaluate the financial and
technical viability of applications.
u2022 Lead the approved projectsu2019 implementation, carried-out by external consultants, during different
activities and phases which include, but not limited to, the scope of work, tender documents, technical
bid evaluation, engineering, installation and commissioning.
u2022 Develop/review the scope of work to facilitate the process automation processesu2019 implementation in
conformity with HSE measures.
u2022 Develop/lead the development performed by external consultants on new and existing applications
functional specifications, design, as-built documentation, user manuals, training materials and
maintenance procedures to ensure the effective utilization of systems and applications.
u2022 Perform the troubleshooting on process automation systems and related applications to maximize their
availability and reliability.
u2022 Identify and implement optimization programs that enable the Plant to operate efficiently at optimum
conditions and with maximum yield.
u2022 Lead/ facilitate the alarm rationalization workshops and implement the recommendations in an effective
and timely manner to improve the alarmu2019s performance.
u2022 Evaluate, technically, the vendors and contractors to support the Procurement Division in the prequalification
process, as required.
u2022 Conduct knowledge sharing sessions and trainings to contribute to the overall sustenance of theprocess automation solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
u2022 Bachelor Degree in Chemical, Petrochemical, Process Control Engineering, or any other equivalentqualification.
u2022 8 years of experience in the field of process control and optimization within the Oil & Gas industry.
u2022 Solid knowledge about process control & optimization and process automation systems such as DCS, BLPC, APC, RTO, CLPM, AMS, Dashboards, etc.
u2022 Working background in the implementation of, at least, 2 RTO and 4 APC projects and leading alarm
rationalization and suppression activities.
u2022 Sound knowledge and experience in the development, reviews, and execution of process control and
automation technical standards and procedures.
u2022 Knowledge of latest technological developments and their implications on business in view of thevariety of processes, DCS, and ICS control applications.
u2022 Extensive knowledge of guidelines and specifications for Process Control in the CONCEPT, SELECT, and DEFINE project phases.
u2022 Good knowledge of relevant national and international regulations and standards.
u2022 Good knowledge of HSE principles and their applications relevant to Oil & Gas industry.
u2022 Strong verbal and written communication skills.
u2022 Planning, organizing, scheduling, coordinating, checking, examining, and recording.
