Job purpose
Job specific accountabilities- Ensure the materials selection in the FEED and EPC phases of the projects to meet the long term asset integrity standards and the approved quality criteria and specifications.
- Select a new material which meets the business requirement with improved functionality from a range of new materials which can function as substitutes.
- Manage the update of design specifications of new materials which are available to the contractors online, in order to ensure the updated specifications are available timely and avoid any changes by the contractor.
- Evaluate the welding technology or process proposed by the contractor to assess the benefits of using such superior alternatives.
- Preparation of corrosion monitoring planning and scheduling and coordinate with Plant Availability Division to forecast requirements like scaffoldings, insulation removal, crane to have accessibility to carry out various inspection activities.
- Provide appropriate testing techniques and report inspection observations, abnormalities and recommendations attached with relevant documents like checklists, detail assembly drawings, sketches etc. indicating specific defects to the concerned departments.
- Execute routine day-to-day corrosion monitoring of plant equipment during operating conditions as per monthly and yearly inspection schedule.
- Carry out failure analysis and its prevention, prepare material specification for plant equipment and facilities, prepare WPS (welding procedure specification), WPQ (welder qualifications) as per section IX of ASME. Prepare quality plan for the project, modification, or turnaround jobs.
- Study the corrosion problem of different plant installations cooling water system, piping and analyze the corrosion trend and recommend suitable solution to overcome the problem.
- Execute cathodic protection system monitoring for underground pipelines, metallic or concrete structures and troubleshooting.

Supervision- Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
- Provide input for preparation of the department or section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved budget and work plans to deliver section objectives.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
- Implement approved department or section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the department or section's work programs in line with company and international standards.
- Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
- Contribute to the achievement of the approved performance objectives for the department or section in line with the company performance framework.
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC code of practices.
- Provide inputs to prepare section MIS and progress reports for company management.
Minimum qualification
Bachelor degree in materials sciences or metallurgical engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
Minimum experience, knowledge and skills
Six years of experience, including experience in corrosion management and integrity management within a large industrial organization.
