New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an Admissions Officer reporting to the Associate Director of Admisisons.
The Admissions Officer is responsible for undergraduate student outreach, recruitment, evaluation, retention, and yield activities for NYUAD. Successful execution of those responsibilities will result in an increase of viable applicants and matriculated students.
Principal Responsibilities
Recruitment & Outreach- Develop and implement strategies to attract and enroll a diverse pool of qualified undergraduate students
- Represent the university at college fairs, high schools, and community events year-round globally with a focus in the UAE
- Build relationships with prospective students, families and counselors to promote the institution's academic programs and unique offerings
- Support applicants to NYU Abu Dhabi throughout the application process, including after receiving an offer of admission. Host yield programs/events/outreach to support matriculation of applicants
- Sensitively handle situations with parents, students, or counselors regarding a student who is not offered admission
- Support the overall recruitment strategy and projects
- Participate in organizing and hosting on-campus events such as school visits, workshops, info sessions, and campus tours
- Speak with visitors to the campus about admissions- and university-related topics
- Support NYU Abu Dhabi's office needs by responding to student inquiries via email, phone, meeting, etc
- Engage in signature on-campus admissions programs and initiatives through the planning, implementation, and execution stages
- Review and assess undergraduate applications based on contextual review and admissions criteria to identify students who align with NYUAD's mission and values
- Assist with outreach to incomplete documents and follow-up with non-responders at various points of the application cycle
- Participate in various NYUAD admissions-wide training and strategic planning sessions in New York or Abu Dhabi
- Support other offices on campus with events related to the NYUAD campus community
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelors Degree in liberal arts or a field related to education/counseling
- 1+ years of experience in university admissions to US liberal arts style programs, experience with secondary education, university advising, or international education
- Excellent written & oral command of English
- Strong command of Arabic
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills with diverse audiences in terms of nationality and cultural context
- Ability to handle difficult conversations diplomatically and respectfully
- Ability to represent NYUAD institutional values
- Masters Degree from selective university and coursework or degree related to education, communication, international relations and/or counseling
- 3+ years of experience in university admissions to US lib eral arts style programs, experience with secondary education, university advising, or internal education
- Personal or professional familiarity with US higher education system and admissions process, in particular the liberal arts and holistic admissions process
- UAE driver's license and car
