- To carry out inspection, verification, monitoring, and documentation of project's quality control and mechanical completion activities in order to meet the project requirements efficiently and timely manner.
- Liaise with clients and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with quality control and electrical completion inspections, acceptance, and related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with international industry standards, project specifications, tender, work instructions, procedures, and manuals as appropriate.
Key responsibilities
Policies, processes & procedures- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and work instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Ensure that safety, quality, and environment requirements of the yard are strictly met.
- Follow and comply with information security rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information and intellectual properties.
- Ensure that the work carried out complies with international industry standards, project specifications, tender, work instructions, procedures, and manuals as appropriate.
- Preparation of ITPs in line with regulatory requirements and specifications.
- Perform in-process and final inspections in shop and on-board.
- Participation in work identification as required.
- Carry out material inspection of electrical equipment, instruments, and other miscellaneous items.
- Inspection of the installation of cable tray fabrication and installation including covering and protection.
- Inspections of all types of electrical, instrumentation, and telecom cables according to manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
- Inspection of the installation of all types of electrical, instrumentation, and telecom equipment and control panels.
- Witness and inspect testing of HV cables, fiber optic cables, CAT cables, and coaxial cables.
- Witness and inspect megger and continuity testing of electrical systems, including cables and equipment.
- Witness and inspect torque tightening of bolting on bus bars, electrical terminals of switchboards, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, tender, work instructions, procedures, and manuals as appropriate.
- Carry out inspections for instrument tubing installation and testing.
- Carry out the area completion inspections.
- Witness and test inspections of earth continuity test and low resistance test.
- Carry out inspections and do measurements using insulation tester, clamp meter, multimeter, low resistance tester (Ductor), OTDR tester, and torque wrench, etc.
- Perform inspections to ensure that all installations are carried out up to the set standards.
- Coordinate with and assist mechanical completion engineers for the inspections, completion, and documentation.
- Detailed inspections of hazardous areas equipment.
- Reporting on non-conformance issues with installations and equipment and advising construction team on correct installation practices.
- Carry out inspections and generate punch lists if any according to project ITP and completion philosophy. Take ownership in closing and updating punch lists in coordination with punch list owners and originators.
- Coordinate and liaise with classification society, third party inspection agencies, ship superintendents, and other trades to ensure adherence to related standards.
- Stop processes if they do not meet specified requirements, raise occurrence reports, develop corrective and preventive actions, and ensure that rework is carried out to customer satisfaction.
- Collect, update, and file all relevant inspection records, ITRs/MCCRs, and prepare final dossiers according to project requirements.
- Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work.
- Responsible to comply with relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls and to behave in a manner which ensures that their actions or omissions do not adversely affect the environment, health, safety, and wellbeing of themselves, colleagues, contractors, or members of the public.
- Meeting all responsibilities as outlined in the DDW OHSMS.
- Participating in any training and safety initiatives implemented by the company.
- Complying with all safety directives and work instructions.
- Immediately reporting any incident or potential hazard to their supervisor or safety department.
- Education and knowledge in electrical/instrumentation engineering is essential.
- Knowledge in electrical, instrumentation, and telecom inspection testing techniques, international standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Able to read and understand design drawings such as P&ID, single line, termination, general arrangement, isometric, etc.
- Good knowledge and experience in handling site QC and completion inspections, line walks, and other process inspections.
- Good knowledge and experience in different processes involved in construction activities and related quality requirements.
- Knowledge in mechanical completion process and related documentation.
- Knowledge and experience in shipyard or a similar facility with mechanical completion activities for conversion and new buildings.
- Degree or diploma in relevant field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in similar role.
- Electrical/instrumentation.
- Quality control inspection.
- Conversant with design drawings.
- Good planning and execution skills.
- Good knowledge in Microsoft Office especially Excel.
