Lead Data Engineering / Platform Ops

Job Description

Job Purpose:

We are looking for a Lead Data Engineering / Platform Ops professional to own and operate RAKBANK's enterprise data platform.

You will lead the engineering of scalable data pipelines and ensure the platform delivers reliable, secure, and high-performance data to power analytics, AI, and regulatory reporting across the bank.

• Design and operate batch & real-time data pipelines (ADF, Kafka/CDC)
• Build and manage the Databricks lakehouse platform (bronze → gold layers)
• Own DataOps practices including CI/CD, monitoring, and incident management
• Implement data governance (Unity Catalog) — security, lineage, access controls
• Develop dbt transformation models aligned to business data needs
• Manage real-time streaming (Kafka / Confluent) for operational use cases
• Drive platform reliability, SLAs, and performance optimization
• Own data platform cost optimization (FinOps)
• Collaborate with AI & analytics teams to enable advanced data products
• Lead and mentor a high-performing data engineering team

• 10+ years in Data Engineering with leadership experience
• Strong hands-on expertise in Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Kafka/Confluent, dbt
• Experience working in banking or regulated environments preferred
• Strong understanding of data platform governance, security, and cloud cost optimization

• Build and scale a next-gen data platform
• Work on AI, analytics, and digital transformation initiatives
• High visibility role with direct impact on enterprise data strategy
