The Genetic Heritage Group, at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to conduct studies examining host-microbiome interactions in human diseases. The position will be based at Abu Dhabi and is a part of Public Health Research Center at NYUAD.Successful candidate will be supervised by Aashish Jha. Research in the Genetic Heritage Group focuses on host-microbiome interactions and their consequences in health and disease. This position is part of The UAE Healthy Future Study and aims to identify contributions of the oral microbiome in human health and disease by integrating diverse omics datasets.
Responsibilities include generating multi-omics data from a large collection of mouthwash samples, bioinformatics data analyses, microbial cultures, as well as managing the day-to- day functioning of the lab.
Applicants must hold a recent PhD degree and demonstrated experience in microbiome studies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with molecular biology techniques, genomics protocols including library preparation and sequencing, and a background in culturing microbes in the laboratory.We are particularly interested in applicants with experience and interest in addressing questions about host-microbiome interactions using bioinformatics as well as experimental approaches. Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
