Internal Auditor – Financial Control & Construction Reporting (CPA Holder)

Role Overview:
We are hiring a detail-driven Internal Auditor to take full ownership of financial accuracy and reporting across our group of construction and real estate companies. This role requires hands-on expertise in QuickBooks, meticulous voucher-level auditing, and deep familiarity with construction project accounting, including WIP, retentions, cost-to-completion, and subcontractor payment tracking.
The auditor will oversee end-to-end financial reporting, from P&L and budgeting to payables, receivables, and intercompany transactions, ensuring every report is accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Auditing & Controls- Audit every payment voucher before release verify approvals, cost center allocations, supporting documents, contract compliance, and budget linkage.
- Perform random audits on petty cash, journal entries, payroll entries, and expense claims.
- Cross-check payments against approved BOQs, subcontract agreements, and supplier contracts.
- Monitor advance payments, ensure proper liquidation, and flag discrepancies.
- Generate monthly and quarterly P&L reports by project, company, and group-level consolidation.
- Prepare Aged Payables and Aged Receivables reports with notes on risks and actions.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and variance reports.
- Track cost-to-completion, committed costs, and project profitability.
- Maintain and reconcile intercompany balances across the group entities.
- Monitor retention accounts, advance recovery, and mobilization/demobilization costs.
- Reconcile project-specific material purchases, labor costs, subcontractor invoices, and site expenses.
- Audit supplier contracts, LOIs, and change orders for financial exposure.
- Ensure cost coding is aligned with project budgets and chart of accounts.
- Work extensively in QuickBooks Online/Desktop: audit entries, extract reports, and resolve posting errors.
- Recommend and implement controls to reduce financial leakage or undocumented spend.
- Build and update custom financial dashboards using Excel, QuickBooks reports, or BI tools.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor&aposs Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 57 years of auditing/accounting experience, with at least 2 years in construction or contracting firms
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks is mandatory
- Strong understanding of UAE VAT, WHT (if applicable), and statutory compliance
- Solid knowledge of construction billing cycles, project cost tracking, WIP accounting
- Familiarity with RERA, consultant approvals, and subcontractor workflows is a plus
