A leading main contractor in Abu Dhabi is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of major building projects, including high-rise towers and villa communities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all pre- and post-contract commercial activities to ensure project profitability, compliance, and risk management across one or multiple major developments.
Key Responsibilities:- Commercial Strategy & Oversight: Lead the commercial function on assigned projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives, project requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Cost Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and cost reporting. Monitor expenditures and implement cost control measures to ensure financial efficiency.
- Contract Management: Administer main and subcontractor agreements (FIDIC or equivalent), manage claims, variations, and contract negotiations.
- Procurement Support: Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely appointment of subcontractors and suppliers, aligned with project needs and budget constraints.
- Claims & Dispute Resolution: Lead the preparation and defense of contractual claims, extensions of time, and cost recovery. Liaise with legal and external consultants when required.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor commercial and quantity surveying teams on-site and in head office. Promote best practices in contract administration and commercial reporting.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with clients, consultants, project managers, and site teams to ensure commercial alignment and effective issue resolution.
- Reporting: Produce regular commercial reports for senior management, highlighting risks, opportunities, and financial status.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline; MRICS or equivalent chartered status is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years’ experience in commercial management with a reputable main contractor.
- Project Background: Proven track record on high-rise residential/commercial towers or large villa projects in the UAE or GCC region.
- Contract Knowledge: Strong understanding of FIDIC and other standard forms of contract used in the region.
- Skills: Excellent negotiation, leadership, and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines under pressure.
- Regional Experience: Must have working knowledge of UAE construction market, local authority regulations, and cost databases.
Salary: AED 65,000 to 75,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
