COC - Chief Engineer Class 1 (National /White list)

1. Machinery & System Management

• Operate, monitor, and maintain:
• Main engine
• Auxiliary engines/generators
• Boilers, pumps, compressors, HVAC systems
• Steering and propulsion systems
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical faults.

1. Personnel Management

• Supervise engine department crew.
• Assign duties and ensure efficient watchkeeping schedules.
• Conduct training and safety drills for engineering staff.

1. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain engine logbooks, maintenance records, and fuel reports.
• Ensure compliance with:
• IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL
• Flag state and Class requirements.
• Manage planned maintenance systems (PMS).

1. Fuel and Lubrication Management

• Oversee fuel bunkering operations (including testing and sampling).
• Monitor fuel and lube oil usage and inventory.

1. Safety & Emergency Response

• Lead emergency actions involving machinery (e.g., engine room fire, flooding, blackout).
• Ensure fire suppression and safety systems are functional.
• Participate in emergency drills (e.g., abandon ship, fire, oil spill).

1. Budgeting & Spare Parts

• Plan and manage the engine departments budget.
• Monitor spare part consumption and ensure adequate inventory.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Marine Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Chief Engineer Class 1 (National /White list)
