Job description
The electrical and ICA engineer will operate under the supervision of the resident engineer and project manager as part of the construction supervision team for major infrastructure and sewage treatment plant (STP) projects. The role requires a strong technical background in electrical systems, instrumentation, control, and automation with hands-on experience in PLC and SCADA systems used in water and wastewater facilities.
Job duties- Extensive experience in supervising electrical and ICA works for STP pumping stations and infrastructure projects within the UAE.
- In-depth knowledge of DEWA, Dubai Municipality, and other relevant standards and specifications for electrical and control systems.
- Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical works (LV/MV), instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA, telemetry systems, and control panels.
- Review and approve contractor submittals including shop drawings, ITPs, FAT/SAT procedures, SCADA architecture, and communication protocols.
- Provide technical oversight for the integration of PLC and SCADA systems including programming logic, verification, and interface testing with field instruments.
- Ensure QA/QC compliance by developing and enforcing inspection and test plans for electrical and ICA works.
- Monitor site inspections and evaluate inspector performance ensuring works are executed as per project specifications and standards.
- Coordinate with the head office design team for resolution of technical queries and review of material submittals.
- Update progress of all assigned works to the resident engineer/project manager for inclusion in project reports.
- Review and verify red-line markups and as-built documentation for all electrical and ICA systems.
- Coordinate between electrical, mechanical, and ICA systems during commissioning and start-up phases.
- Maintain effective communication with the client, contractor, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless execution and integration of automation systems.
- Lead and mentor junior staff and inspectors promoting a culture of safety, quality, and technical excellence.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical and ICA supervision including PLC and SCADA systems with a focus on STP and infrastructure projects.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or control systems engineering.
