Job summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing robust processes aligned to both legislative and company requirements and ensuring that the Sports Finance function delivers timely and accurate reports. Manage all accounting activities including P&L and B/S reviews to support the business by implementing and maintaining a partnership approach with each function.
Accountabilities: Core responsibilities- Development experience in financial dashboards in Power BI and enhancement of existing dashboards on a need basis.
- Responsible for the daily financial and management reporting for the Sports Division.
- Developed monthly business review deck that enables identifying dark areas and allocating resources accordingly. This includes sales comments, sales bridges analyzing retail KPIs, P&L comments, price volume analysis to generate awareness of financial performance of the business with operations and business unit leadership team.
- Commercial analysis on rental savings for lease renewals and contracts of non-performing stores and financial based conclusions on proposed action plans.
- Developed investment appraisal model based on capital budgeting methods such as NPV, IRR, payback period and capital intensity ratio to help in business expansion analysis.
- Supporting in annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting and drafted standalone and consolidating models, analyzing and validating inputs provided by business teams.
- Perform monthly closing activities analysis, including researching general ledger activity and variances to budget and prior year.
- Monitor the cost structure of business unit and its departments.
- Liaising with internal departments, including retail operations, buying and planning, marketing, accounting and payroll.
- Tracking the capex spend versus budget for all major projects and subsequent preparation of capex pack on a monthly basis.
- Review of provisions, accruals and credit notes.
- CA, CIMA, ACCA holder (or pursuing) or tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance.
- 3 to 5 years experience preferably in the retail industry in financial planning and analysis or commercial finance.
