Synopsis
The ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) Manager plays a critical role in advancing Etihad Airways ESG agenda, embedding stewardship, innovation, and compliance across operations. With extensive experience in regulatory leadership, industry engagement (IATA & ICAO), and advisory roles in national environmental policy, this position drives the airlines ESG strategy and cross-functional integration.
Accountabilities- Ensure the Alignment of the ESG strategy with global aviation standards, national policies, and internal sustainability goals.
- Ensure adherence to ESG regulations (CORSIA, EU/UK ETS, Refuel EU, ADQ), oversee disclosures (GRI, SASB, TCFD, IEnvA ISO14001), and maintain audit readiness.
- Drive ESG related initiatives on emissions reduction, resource efficiency, and ethical governance.
- Monitor ESG KPIs , targets and Initiatives ensuring robust tracking of impact measurement, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
- Identify ESG risks, monitor policy trends, and provide strategic recommendations.
- Advise internal teams on regulatory risks, investment opportunities, and sustainability strategies while representing Etihad in industry forums and stakeholder engagements.
- Collaborate with industry partners (government, NGOs, international organizations) to shape and influence ESG agendas.
- Build internal ESG capabilities through training, education programs, and engagement in global forums to promote sustainable aviation practices.
- Champion ESG awareness and capability building , delivering training and education programs, empowering internal employees and youth leaders to drive a value-based ESG culture.
- Bachelors degree in environmental science, Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Climate or related area.
- Preferred: Masters degree in environmental management (MSc), MBA with Sustainability/ESG focus, or a Masters in Climate Change, Sustainable Development, or Public Policy (with an environmental focus).
- Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks (GRI, TCFD, SASB, CDP), aviation compliance (CORSIA, UK/EU Emission Trading Schemes), and carbon accounting.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in the ESG field.
Certifications & skills (highly recommended or desirable):
- ISO14001:2004 EIMA Approved Lead Environmental Auditor
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Understanding of ESG-related financial disclosures and investor expectations
- Proven ability to navigate complex, cross-functional environments and drive organizational change
