Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

ALSUWEIDI Engineering Consultants is hiring a Quantity Surveyor for projects in Abu Dhabi. Candidates should have UAE experience in cost control, variations, payment certifications, and contract administration. Strong knowledge of FIDIC and construction commercial practices is preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct detailed quantity surveying duties in accordance with project specifications, contract requirements, and UAE industry standards.
• Review and evaluate variation orders, value engineering proposals, and cost impacts submitted by the Contractor, Consultant, or Client, and provide recommendations to the Project Manager and Client.
• Prepare cost estimates, cost analysis reports, and cash flow forecasts for project monitoring and management review.
• Monitor project budgets and expenditures, comparing forecasted costs against actual progress and approved budgets.
• Prepare projected project completion cost reports and support commercial reporting requirements for management and clients.

• Prepare, verify, and certify monthly interim payment applications and final accounts in accordance with contractual terms and project progress.
• Assess and evaluate Contractor claims related to variations, extension of time, additional works, abortive works, alternative designs, and Engineer/Architect instructions.
• Review subcontractor and supplier quotations, payment applications, and variation claims for compliance with contractual obligations.

• Assist in the preparation and management of tender documentation, BOQs, rate analysis, and contract administration activities.
• Ensure compliance with FIDIC conditions of contract, UAE construction regulations, company procedures, and project commercial policies.
• Maintain proper records of all commercial correspondence, payment certificates, claims, variations, and contractual documentation.

• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants, and Contractors to ensure accurate measurement, valuation, and commercial control of works executed on site.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend contra-charges, back charges, or deductions related to defective works, material damages, delays, or non-compliance by subcontractors and suppliers.

• Follow and comply with all company policies, procedures, work instructions, and HSE requirements implemented by ALSUWEIDI Management.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the Project Manager or Management related to commercial and quantity surveying functions.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Preferably a professional quantity surveying qualification with a recognized international body (RICS or equivalent).

• Minimum total experience of 10 years
• Minimum 5 years experience in UAE
• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar or equivalent position.

• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and construction techniques.
• Excellent estimating and cost management experience
• MS Office, Outlook, BIM / CAD measure, Cost Planning software e.g. CATO.
• Multi-tasking, deadline oriented and detail-oriented skills required.
• Good written and spoken communication skills in English.
