The Role

We are seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Operations Manager / Port Logistics Specialist to coordinate international ocean freight activities and support efficient port and cargo operations. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of shipping processes, documentation, carrier coordination, and logistics planning, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and resolve operational issues effectively.

• Coordinate end-to-end ocean freight operations, from booking through final delivery.
• Manage vessel schedules, cargo bookings, container movements, and shipment milestones.
• Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, port operators, customs agents, warehouses, and customers.
• Monitor vessel schedules, port activities, container availability, and cargo status.
• Prepare and review bills of lading, shipping instructions, commercial documents, and related records.
• Track import and export shipments and proactively address delays, exceptions, and operational disruptions.
• Coordinate container pickup, delivery, loading, discharge, and return activities.
• Monitor demurrage, detention, storage, and other logistics-related costs.
• Ensure shipment data and milestones are accurately maintained in TMS, ERP, or logistics systems.
• Support customs clearance and ensure required shipping documentation is complete and accurate.
• Review freight quotations and support carrier and service-provider negotiations.
• Monitor logistics performance, service levels, costs, and key operational KPIs.
• Prepare shipment reports, operational dashboards, and management updates.
• Investigate cargo discrepancies, documentation issues, delays, and service failures.
• Coordinate with supply chain, procurement, finance, sales, and customer-service teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve freight efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen operational processes.

• 3+ years of professional experience in ocean freight, port logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, or supply chain operations preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of ocean freight processes, container operations, shipping documentation, and port logistics.
• Experience working with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, or port-related service providers.
• Familiarity with bills of lading, vessel schedules, Incoterms, customs procedures, and international shipping requirements.
• Strong organizational, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with TMS, ERP, freight-management, or logistics platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail when managing shipment documentation and operational data.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, and operational priorities independently.
• Comfortable working with international and distributed teams in a remote environment.
• Professional logistics certifications are not required unless specifically relevant.
