Electrical Engineer – Substation & Power Infrastructure

Requirement: Visa is not provided, we are ideally looking for candidates with Freelance / Self-sponsored Visa (Golden Visa preferred)

About the Role

We are hiring an experienced Electrical Engineer to support a major energy infrastructure program in Abu Dhabi. This role focuses on substation systems, power distribution, and integration within critical environments, working closely with multidisciplinary teams on-site.

• Conduct site surveys and assessments of existing electrical infrastructure
• Evaluate system capacity, reliability, and compliance with project requirements
• Support integration of electrical systems with control and cybersecurity frameworks
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical components
• Review technical drawings, method statements, and submittals
• Coordinate with contractors, OEMs, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery
• Ensure adherence to QA/QC and HSE standards across all activities

• Proven experience in substation or utility-scale electrical projects
• Strong knowledge of:
• HV/MV systems (11kV, 33kV, 132kV or higher)
• DC systems (110V / 48V battery systems)
• LVAC systems and auxiliary power distribution
• Hands-on experience in installation, testing, and commissioning
• Familiarity with protection and control systems
• Experience working with utilities, oil and gas, or critical infrastructure environments

• Experience with regional utilities or authorities (e.g., DEWA, TRANSCO, ADDC)
• Knowledge of earthing, lightning protection, and cable systems
• Exposure to integration with SCADA or control systems
• Strong stakeholder coordination and documentation skills

• At least 5+ years of relevant experience
• Able to work onsite in Abu Dhabi full-time
• Available on freelance / self-sponsored basis
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
