Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Critical Care Medicine Specialist to join a leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients in intensive care settings, ensuring evidence-based, patient-centered management for complex medical and surgical conditions.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver advanced critical care services and support emergency response systems within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
  • Provide advanced life support and critical care management for patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, cardiac emergencies, and multi-organ dysfunction.
  • Perform critical care procedures including intubation, central venous catheter insertion, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, ventilator management, and bedside ultrasound where applicable.
  • Lead multidisciplinary ICU rounds and coordinate comprehensive patient management plans.
  • Collaborate with emergency medicine, surgery, anesthesia, pulmonology, cardiology, and other specialties for integrated patient care.
  • Supervise junior physicians, residents, and ICU staff where applicable.
  • Participate in rapid response teams, code blue management, and hospital emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate medical documentation and compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations and hospital protocols.
  • Participate in clinical audits, research, quality improvement programs, and continuing medical education activities.
  • Maintain high standards of infection control, patient safety, and ICU clinical governance.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
  • Board Certification / Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, or Anesthesia Critical Care.
  • Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of post-board consultant experience in ICU/Critical Care Medicine within a tertiary care or academic hospital.
  • Certification in ACLS and other advanced critical care certifications preferred.
  • Strong expertise in ventilator management, sepsis care, and advanced critical care procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in multidisciplinary and high-acuity ICUs.
  • Exposure to ECMO, CRRT, bronchoscopy, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring is an advantage.
  • Academic, teaching, or research experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multicultural healthcare environment.
