Structural Engineering - Mechanical

Job Description

Job Purpose:

To perform detailed mechanical structural engineering design and analysis for EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications. The engineer will be responsible for the design, review, and coordination of mechanical support structures and systems including static and rotating equipment support, piping racks, platforms, and skids.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct structural analysis and design of mechanical equipment foundations, supports, pipe racks, skids, and access platforms.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as design calculations, material specifications, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and construction documents.
• Ensure mechanical structural designs comply with international codes such as ASME, API, AISC, ASTM, and applicable project standards.
• Coordinate closely with piping, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines for interdisciplinary integration.
• Perform site visits, as required, for field verification, technical clarifications, and resolving construction issues.
• Interface with procurement, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure constructability and cost-effectiveness.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and client meetings.
• Support development of BOQs, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews.
• Monitor project schedule and ensure timely delivery of assigned engineering tasks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
• (Masters Degree preferred but not mandatory)
• Professional Engineering License or Certification (e.g., PE, CEng) is an advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum 710 years of relevant experience in mechanical structural engineering, specifically in EPC projects within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, or Industrial sectors.
• Proficient in engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, ANSYS, PVElite, Caesar II, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and SolidWorks or equivalent.
• Familiarity with international engineering codes: ASME, API, AISC, ANSI, ISO, BS, and ASTM.
• Proven experience with design of mechanical structures for static & rotating equipment, including vibration analysis, seismic design, and wind load considerations.
• Working knowledge of materials and fabrication practices in steel, stainless steel, and other industrial alloys.
• Prior experience with 3D model reviews and clash detection using Navisworks or SmartPlant 3D is a plus.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
