The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi is looking to recruit a research assistant in mathematics, starting December 1, 2025, to work under the supervision of Prof. Pierre Youssef on subjects including (in no particular order):

• Concentration and functional inequalities.
• Mixing times of Markov chains.
• Mathematical aspects of machine learning (automated proofs, deep learning, feature selection, bias and fairness modeling, etc.).

While excellent candidates with other research interests may be considered, a priority will be given to those able to relate to one or several of the above topics.

The research assistant will be appointed for a duration of one year, which could be extended. Applicants must have a bachelor degree in mathematics, computer science, or any other related field. The ideal candidate will have a solid mathematical background together with solid knowledge of machine learning and data science.

Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, and scientific creativity are essential.
