As a data ecologist, youll blend ecology, data analysis and spatial science to shape cutting-edge tools that transform how we understand and restore biodiversity.
What Youll Do:
Digital Biodiversity Assessment & Data Management- Input, organise and manage ecological data from satellite imagery, drone surveys and digital biodiversity assessments.
- Conduct QA checks to ensure data accuracy, consistency and completeness.
- Identify native and exotic species using digital tools and reference databases.
- Map and classify vegetation communities using remote data interpretation, GIS overlays and spatial assessments.
- Perform statistical analyses on species richness, distribution and biodiversity indices.
- Interpret ecological trends and habitat conditions using data science and spatial ecology techniques.
- Bring knowledge of mangrove, coastal, and arid ecosystems in the UAE and the Gulf region.
- Use GIS tools (ArcGIS/QGIS) to analyze spatial data and generate clear maps for internal and client use.
- Maintain and update spatial data layers for species occurrence, habitat conditions, and landform classifications.
- Contribute to developing and refining internal tools, species databases and AI-powered assessment models.
- Collaborate with ecologists, data scientists and AI engineers on continuous product improvements.
- Occasionally assist in field ecological surveys, biodiversity monitoring, and habitat assessments to ground-truth your analyses.
- Support species ID and ecological data collection in the field when needed.
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biodiversity Conservation, or a related field
- Experience in digital ecology, biodiversity assessments, or ecological analytics
- Strong knowledge of local ecosystems (Mangrove, coastal and Arid) is a big plus
- Proficiency with GIS tools (ArcGIS/QGIS) and remote sensing data
- Ability to interpret complex ecological data and communicate insights clearly
- Collaborative, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment
