Role Summary
The Procurement & Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies to support STAAR's manufacturing and trading operations. The role requires ownership of supplier sourcing, commercial negotiations, vendor assessments, vendor relationship management, supply chain planning, and procurement execution to ensure materials and services are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with technical requirements.
The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying strategic suppliers, negotiating commercial terms, mitigating supply chain risks, and supporting the growth of STAAR's global supplier network.
Role Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers to support STAAR's manufacturing and trading operations.
- Source materials, equipment, and services while ensuring competitive pricing, quality, and delivery performance.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, technical requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Prepare RFQs, evaluate quotations, conduct technical/commercial comparisons, and recommend suppliers for award.
- Generate and manage purchase orders while ensuring timely fulfillment of procurement requirements.
- Proactively track long-lead items and develop mitigation plans to prevent delays to production and customer deliveries.
- Coordinate logistics, shipping, customs clearance, and supplier communications to ensure on-time delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, manufacturers, and strategic partners.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Stores, and Finance teams to forecast requirements and support operational objectives.
- Monitor supplier performance and continuously seek opportunities to improve cost, quality, lead times, and supply chain reliability.
- Direct supervision of store personell
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- CIPS certification preferred
Experience:
- 6-10 years of procurement and supply chain experience in manufacturing, engineering, industrial equipment, oil & gas, aerospace, defense, automotive, or aviation industries.
- Proven track record negotiating with local and international suppliers and manufacturers.
- Experience managing long-lead procurement activities and global supply chains.
- Experience technical quotations and engineering specifications analysis.
- Previous supervisory / leadership experience a plus
