Overview/basic function

The mixologist will be responsible for curating, preparing, and serving bespoke cocktails and beverages while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and consistency. This role combines deep knowledge of mixology, professionalism, and a guest-centric attitude.

• Design, develop, and update the cocktail menu with innovative and seasonal offerings in line with brand identity and guest preferences.
• Prepare and serve cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages with precision, creativity, and attention to detail.
• Engage with guests to recommend beverages based on their taste preferences, offering a personalized experience, including:

1. Liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages ordered
2. Particular characteristics/description of wines/champagnes ordered
3. Prices for specified bar selections
4. Designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method, and garnishes required
5. Group name, type of function, and expected attendance
6. Scheduled hours of service
7. Special requests/arrangements
8. Location of bar in function room
9. Order of service

• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and service delivery of all drinks.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, tools, and equipment in accordance with hygiene and safety standards.
• Monitor inventory and place orders to maintain par levels of liquor, garnishes, and bar supplies.
• Train and mentor junior bartenders or bartenders in mixology techniques and service excellence.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, new ingredients, and mixology techniques to enhance the guest experience.
• Comply with all health, safety, and licensing regulations.
• Contribute to events and promotions, including themed nights, masterclasses, or cocktail competitions.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
• Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended.
• Complete opening and closing side duties.
• Transport bar unit with all supplies and equipment to assigned function area and set up in specified location in accordance with departmental standards.
• All other duties as required.

• Experience: Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages. Minimum three years experience as a bartender.
• Education: High school diploma.
• General skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; prioritize, organize, and follow up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guestu2019s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. Experience in cocktail competitions or bar shows. Familiarity with molecular mixology or sustainable bartending practices. Knowledge of wine and barista-level coffee is an advantage.
• Technical skills: Ability to understand guests' service needs; ability to access and input information into P.O.S. system; ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, and think clearly when preparing drinks and providing service to guests within any given period of time; ability to focus on details; ability to exercise good judgment in determining potentially intoxicated guests; ability to maintain good coordination while preparing and serving orders quickly; ability to exert strong physical effort in transporting cases of liquor and beer kegs from storeroom to assigned workstation and transporting bar to/from assigned function room; ability to endure abundant physical movements throughout the work areas; ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision; ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
• Language: Required to speak, read, and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.
• Physical requirements: Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting required weights, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
• Licenses & certifications: Certification in alcohol awareness program; certification of previous training in liquor, wine, and food service.
