Job Description
The Tax Manager at SGS will play a pivotal role in managing the company's tax compliance, planning, and strategy. This position requires a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations, both domestic and international, to ensure SGS remains compliant while optimizing its tax obligations.The Tax Manager will lead a team of professionals, provide strategic tax advice, and manage relationships with tax authorities.
Responsibilities- Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, including corporate tax and other indirect taxes.
- Tax Reporting: Ensure timely and correct group reporting related to tax accounting. Prepare and review tax reports (tax position, tax netting and deferred tax valuation and tax risk) for internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax obligations and ensure compliance with tax laws.
- Tax Assessments: Handle tax assessments, transfer pricing assessments, and appeals.
- Advisory Role: Advise the business on the applicability of taxes on transactions and complex business matters, including mergers and acquisitions.
- Audit Management: Manage and coordinate tax audits, inquiries, and notices from tax authorities.
- Documentation: Maintain documentation and records related to tax filings, provisions, and other tax-related activities.
- Team Leadership: Lead a team, including qualified CAs, and support their professional development
- Partner with operational leaders to drive efficiency and cost optimization.
- Support M&A activities, business expansions, and strategic initiatives.
- Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualification such as CA or CPA is preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years in a Corporate or In-House Tax Manager position working in multinational companies covering multiple countries in the Middle East Region
- Extensive experience in tax management, including direct and indirect taxes, international taxation, and transfer pricing
- Able to animate and monitor other tax focal points in our region
- Previous experience in Tax audits from authorities, proactive in improving the process & documentation
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to understand and navigate complex tax laws and regulations.
- Communication: Proficiency in English and ideally Arabic, with advanced verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively advise and collaborate with various stakeholders.
