Site Senior Project Engineer – Buildings

Connexa Recruitment are working in partnership with an award-winning International Architectural Design practice who are looking for an Senior Project Engineer Buildings (Site-Based) in there Dubai office.

Role Overview:

This role is critical to maintaining project quality, timelines, and coordination between the design office, contractor, and client.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary site representative of the consultancy, ensuring technical compliance with approved designs and drawings.
• Monitor construction progress and quality, ensuring alignment with project plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards.
• Coordinate between contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and the design team to resolve technical or site-related issues.
• Review and comment on shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, method statements, and other contractor submissions.
• Conduct regular site inspections, quality checks, and participate in progress meetings with stakeholders.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site reports including progress updates, non-compliance issues, and site observations.
• Support the Resident Engineer / Project Manager in administering the contract and ensuring milestones are achieved.
• Ensure that health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations are strictly enforced on site.
• Identify and escalate any potential delays, discrepancies, or conflicts that may impact project delivery.
• Supervise and guide junior site engineers, inspectors, and coordinate closely with the design review team.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

• Bachelors Degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (as applicable).

Experience:

• Minimum 14+ years of experience in the construction supervision of large-scale building projects.
• At least 5 years of site-based experience with a recognized Architectural or Engineering Consultancy.
• Proven involvement in high-profile commercial, residential, hospitality, or institutional building projects.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong technical knowledge of building systems and construction methods.
• Familiarity with local and international codes (e.g., IBC, BS, NFPA, ASHRAE).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Proficient in reviewing technical documents and using software like AutoCAD, MS Office, and project tracking tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus, depending on location).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Membership in a professional engineering body (PE, CEng, PMP, or equivalent).
• HSE training/certification (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) is an advantage.
• Experience with sustainable building practices or green building certifications (e.g., LEED, Estidama) is a plus.
