Job purpose

Responsible for inspection and overhauling of Letourneau gearboxes for offshore cranes, skidding system, anchor winch, and raw water tower.

Key accountabilities

• Provide technical direction and expert advice to jacking system crew and rig maintenance personnel to ensure observance of proper standards of work.
• Assigned to carry out jacking system refurbishment and repairs, inspection, and audit of jacking system components for all offshore rigs.
• Conduct ongoing refurbishment and repair work.
• Prepare and submit visit reports to the immediate supervisor.
• Furnish technical advice to immediate supervisors, senior jacking system engineer, maintenance support team leader, and maintenance manager on all jacking system maintenance and Letourneau gearboxes #3 & #4 repairs and refurbishment activities.
• Receive and review reports from subordinates in which the preventive maintenance system has not been adhered to and discuss such instances with the responsible body on the rig.
• Arrange with rig management to access the machine at the earliest possible, convenient time if it is considered that the maintenance can be deferred.
• If maintenance is critical, discuss with supervisor, recommending that the maintenance should be undertaken at the earliest possible opportunity.
• Carry out feasibility studies for refurbishment projects to evaluate and determine requirements. Includes reviewing study details with operations personnel and outside consultants.
• Participate in study teams to investigate jacking system components failure.
• Establish forward-looking maintenance plans together with costs and materials that will be required to undertake the work, having regard for known equipment to be replaced or refurbished.
• Be accountable for all maintenance and refurbishment activities of offshore rigs jacking system and overhauling Letourneau gearboxes #3 & #4 including budgeting, planning, and execution of known maintenance commitments.
• Assist the immediate supervisor and operational personnel in the preparation of technical specifications.
• Establish all tasks to be undertaken at major jacking system repair and ensure the availability of materials and parts necessary, manpower, fabrication, and welding staff.
• Responsible for ordering and ensuring jacking system material stocked for all jacking system offshore rigs.
• Be accountable for jacking system components and Letourneau gearboxes #3 & #4 inspection, overhauling, and audit, highlighting non-completion of routine jacking system maintenance and liaising with DTMs and rig managers to schedule and assist rig personnel on PMS implementation.
• Visit company's workshops and occasionally outside workshops to ensure the quality and efficiency of repairs and maintenance and give technical support as required.
• Visit such workshops to assess their capabilities prior to use by ADNOC Drilling.
• Assess the facilities available, manpower in the sense of number and skill level, and any other factor that may be relevant to the work to be undertaken.
• Visit warehouses as required to review the availability of essential items, make recommendations to increase or decrease stock levels as appropriate.
• Responsible for ensuring availability of spares and stocking levels.
• Responsible for the implementation of the computerization of the maintenance system.
• Ensure that all documentation relating to the jacking system activity (e.g., work orders, time sheets, workshop and spare parts requests, and service orders) is completed and recorded correctly.
• Recommend improvements in the system as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned, such as making recommendations to improve maintenance and repair services, determining items that should be scrapped, and reporting such items to immediate supervisors.
• Investigate breakdowns in conjunction with rig barge engineer and rig mechanic to confirm reason for failure and determine the need to remove the equipment to workshop.
• Assess the level of skill necessary to perform repairs and assign work to subordinates or, alternatively, direct and participate personally in repairs.
• Determine spares/materials necessary and obtain from stores by completing necessary documentation.
• Check items of equipment overhauled by subordinates to ensure that work has been satisfactorily performed and recorded.
• Responsible for inspection and overhauling of Letourneau gearboxes for offshore cranes, skidding system, anchor winch, and raw water tower.
• Comply with all UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling, and client asset integrity management codes of practice.

Qualifications, experience, knowledge & skills

Minimum qualification

B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum experience & knowledge & skills

10 years' broad jacking system equipment overhaul experience.
