Assistant workshop Manager
Job Description
Position Overview
To manage and control all workshop activities related to fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and
repair, ensuring that operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project
specifications, quality standards, and company procedures.
The role is critical in ensuring equipment readiness, production efficiency, and timely project
support covering ULO Equipment Globally.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Management
Plan, organize, and supervise daily workshop operations
Ensure project targets and project deadlines are achieved
Optimize utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials
Monitor productivity and implement continuous improvement measures- Equipment Maintenance & Asset Management
Ensure all workshop equipment is maintained, calibrated, certified, and operational
Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs
Maintain equipment records, logs, and certification status
Ensure readiness of equipment for mobilization and offshore operations- Production & Fabrication Control
Supervise fabrication, assembly, and repair activities
Ensure compliance with approved drawings, procedures, and specifications
Coordinate with Engineering for technical clarifications
Control material usage and reduce wastage- Quality Assurance & Control
Ensure compliance with ITPs, method statements, and QA/QC requirements
Coordinate inspections with QC and third-party inspectors
Ensure proper documentation, traceability, and reporting
Address NCRs and implement corrective and preventive actions- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Always enforce company HSE policies and procedures
Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings
Ensure compliance with PPE and safe working practices
Identify hazards and implement risk mitigation measures- Resource & Team Management
Supervise workshop supervisors, technicians, and labour
Plan manpower requirements and coordinate recruitment needs
Monitor team performance and productivity
Provide training, coaching, and development opportunities- Planning & Coordination
Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Projects, and Logistics teams
Ensure timely availability of materials, tools, and consumables
Support project mobilization and demobilization activities- Cost Control & Reporting
Monitor operational costs and improve efficiency
Control overtime, material consumption, and equipment utilization
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports
Highlight risks, delays, and mitigation plans to management
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Minimum 10–12 years of relevant experience in workshop / fabrication / operations
Experience in Oil & Gas / Offshore / EPC / Marine sectors preferred
Technical Competencies
Knowledge of fabrication and assembly processes
Understanding of hydraulic and mechanical systems of Pumps and Piping.
Knowledge of Welding procedures.
Knowledge of QA/QC procedures, ITPs, and inspection requirements
Familiarity with international standards (DNV, ADNOC, Aramco preferred)
Familiarity with grouting systems and pumps (Plus Point)
