Health Safety Environment Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled HSE Engineer to join our supervision team for various projects in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as overseeing the implementation of our HSE management systems in alignment with OSHAD standards and international best practices..

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute workplace health and safety plans, evaluation practices, and risk assessment tools in compliance with legal guidelines and the OSHAD System Framework of Abu Dhabi.
• Ensure adherence to ALSUWEIDIs internal HSE Management System and maintain team compliance.
• Prepare project-specific HSE Plans for management review and Employer approval.
• Review, approve, and monitor Contractors HSE Plans, ensuring timely updates when necessary.
• Monitor site compliance with approved HSE Plans and applicable legislation, taking corrective actions in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Conduct and coordinate regular safety training for both ALSUWEIDI and Contractor staff.
• Perform daily site HSE inspections with the Contractors HSE team and document findings.
• Follow up on outstanding safety issues and ensure corrective actions are closed with proper evidence.
• Review and approve Contractors risk assessments, method statements, and work permits.
• Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and oversee closure of reported cases.
• Organize safety meetings with relevant stakeholders to address corrective actions and safety matters.
• Maintain comprehensive HSE registers and ensure accurate reporting.
• Stay updated on UAE and international OSH regulations to maintain compliance and high safety standards.
• Prepare and submit quarterly OSH performance reports, annual cost reports, and comply with audit requirements.
• Report incidents to authorities as per OSHAD requirements.
• Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS) in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
• Certifications: Professional HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 7 years in HSE management, with at least 3 years in the engineering consultancy or construction sector in Abu Dhabi.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations, OSHAD standards, and best practices.
• Experience in site inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Software: Proficient in MS Office and HSE management software.
