Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To provide accurate and timely cost estimates for projects from the pre-concept stage to final delivery, ensuring alignment with market trends, project requirements, and Aradas commercial goals. The role is responsible for preparing and validating quantity take-offs, maintaining cost databases, obtaining competitive quotes, and supporting tendering and budget processes.The Estimator will work closely with the Commercial Manager and project teams to optimize cost efficiency, ensure accuracy in BOQs, and uphold quality standards in line with UAE market practices and local authority requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct accurate quantity take-offs from architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Prepare and maintain material cost database in line with current market fluctuations.
- Obtain competitive quotes from the market for specialised works.
- Quantify and estimate projects from pre-concept stage onwards.
- Prepare internal benchmarks for various project classifications (standard, mid-range, high-end, signature).
- Review and validate Bills of Quantities, including major items, for tendering purposes.
- Identify and challenge discrepancies in cost consultants quantities and resolve disputes.
- Support budget stage design reviews, identify/estimate major changes, validate budget and recommend budget updates if necessary.
- Monitor UAE market trends and update subcontractor and supplier databases.
- Ensure compliance with local authority requirements for cost planning and BOQs.
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., MRICS) is a plus.
- Minimum 46 years of proven experience in quantity takeoff and cost planning.
- Strong background in residential, commercial, hospitality, and mixeduse developments.
- Experience with UAE-based projects and local authority requirements.
- Proficient in CostX, AutoCAD, and related estimating software.
- Strong analytical and numerical ability with exceptional attention to detail.
- Knowledge of local markets, materials, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
