Job Description

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

Oversees all maintenance and repairs to port associated mobile equipment. Supervises the activities of the assigned mechanical maintenance crew in the field, gives the technical direction and guidance for safe trouble shooting and repair jobs.

• Coordinates with maintenance planner to prioritize, schedule and assign jobs to the subordinates, ensure early prepare for all job requirements
• Ensures CMMS is completed on a shift basis whilst complying with agreed procedures.
• Responsible in maintaining safety, quality and housekeeping in side mechanical workshop, and job areas as well.
• Support the team by giving all the mechanical requirements and request for possible changes which will lead to safe and accessible job areas.
• Leads a of mechanics in the repair and servicing of all the port mobile plant consisting of a fleet of terminal tractor units and their trailers and terminal equipment such as top and side lifters and multi trailers.
• Ensures high quality standards are maintained in the workshop in terms of the provided technical support and the efficient operation of workshop tools and machinery
• Prioritizes work and adjusting the work schedule according to availability of materials, workshop equipment and related costs
• Assesses the maintenance needs for equipment and parts required and determines whether they can be repaired in-house, to be sent to an external entity or to be replaced
• Maintains records of all maintenance activities performed and oversees budget accounting of machines, tools and equipment to monitor and control workshop assets
• Supervises the mobilization/demobilization of machines and equipment as per projects requirements
• Manages the performance of all their team members, irrespective of the structure below them
• Performs other duties as required
