Within Wood Abu Dhabi, we are actively expanding our project delivery portfolio to include engineering procurement and construction management (EPCM) contracts.
As part of this growth, we are looking for personnel to join our team, either from internal Wood employees or the external market.
The type of personnel we are looking for is broad ranging including:
- Ambitious people that want to grow their career within this exciting contract execution model, where they will gain experience across the full project lifecycle from detailed engineering, through procurement & fabrication and into the offshore execution, covering construction, commissioning, start-up and handover to operations.
- Experienced personnel with a background in PMC, EPC or EPCM projects, that can take on senior positions within the organisation and use their experience to steer the team to deliver outstanding performance across a portfolio of projects for major operators.
Projects within the EPCM model are wide and varied covering both onshore and offshore brownfield assets; typical examples include:
- Onshore pipeline controls system upgrades
- Offshore asset enhancement projects covering multiple systems and equipment on large platforms, wellhead towers and islands

Job objective:
The safe and effective delivery of a portfolio of brownfield safety critical projects on multiple offshore platforms; including large production complexes (multiple platforms bridge linked) and remote wellhead towers, located offshore within the UAE under an EPCM contracting model.
Typical projects include fire & gas system upgrades, power upgrades, control system upgrades, flare system upgrades and platform structural modifications.
Responsible for the leadership and management of a deployed supply chain project team providing all aspects of supply chain management including materials management, warehousing, expediting, procurement, subcontracts, negotiation and reporting.
Key aspects of the role include the direction and management of the supply chain activities including contract and subcontract management for the portfolio of projects which will be executed in parallel.
The administration and supervision of assigned supply chain personnel working within the project. Ensuring the competence and performance of all assigned supply chain personnel within their role.
Clear understanding of the client's head contract requirements including Wood responsibilities and incorporates those into appropriate project supply chain strategies, plans, procedures and terms and conditions.
Understand and manage threats to the commercial position of Wood and client and develop plans to mitigate commercial risks. Has strong knowledge of commercial terms and conditions, interfaces with Wood legal and commercial experts and can initiate or discuss adaptations in order to reach a robust commercial agreement.
Regularly monitors and reports progress of all project procurement activities. Ensures team regularly update reports and systems with required information to allow accurate reporting and escalates any critical issues and risks to project management.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
People:
- Manage performance of direct reports.
- Ensures compliance and adherence of competence procedures of engineering team.
- Manages succession planning and delivery on behalf of the company and support the contracts.
- Setting and improving standards for the development and retention of motivated and competent people.
- Manage recruitment, selection, transfers, and promotion of resources to meet engineering team requirements.
Process ownership:
- Continuous promotion of corporate and client specific procedures.
- Development and delivery of the technical safety standard expectations and technical assurance.
- Drive compliance and adherence of competence procedures of engineering team.
- Monitor compliance with competence standards.
- Manage incident investigations as required.
- Set performance expectations for direct reports.
- Ensure engineering risk is identified, recorded, managed, and mitigated.
Subject matter expertise:
- Actively maintaining own competence and continuous development.
- Assist in providing functional support to projects and contracts as required.
- Roll out and implementation of learning opportunities from across the business.
- Conduit for regulatory framework, legislation changes and technology developments.
General:
- Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to respective team.

Working relationships:
Internal:
- Provides the interface and maintains effective relationships with key stakeholders to the project.
- Guides and directs engineering team and functional support teams as required.
- Interfaces with global execution centres as required and manages scope across all offices involved.
- Maintain communication with regional head of engineering.
External:
- Primary point of contact for customer engineering focal point on assigned scope.
- Creates strong relationships with key stakeholders including clients offshore operations team.
- Manages relationships with external suppliers and sub-contractors.
Level of influence and decision making authority:
- As delegated by regional head of engineering.
- All personnel within the operations MEAC discipline engineering community.
- Client technical authorities.
- Management of change (people and process).

- As per technical authority matrix.
- Degree qualification in engineering subject from an accredited university.
- Chartered engineer or equivalent with recognized professional body preferable.
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
Minimum experience:
- Minimum 15 years relevant experience in major brownfield oil and gas offshore projects including at least five (5) years in similar position.
Role-specific skills:
- Capable of representing operations EMEA and client to business associates in a professional manner.
- Specific experience in Middle East for renowned clients, preferred.
- Capable use of discipline software and proactively encourage development.
