Position Description
Job Title: Quantity Surveyor/EstimatorReporting Into: Director of Commercials & Projects - Modular

Job Objective:
The Primary role of the Quantity Surveyor requires the ideal candidate to be responsible for managing and ensuring that costs are controlled, contracts are adhered to, and any variations are managed effectively. Their role is essential in delivering a successful project that meets Arena's financial and quality expectations.
The Secondary role will be the involvement in the preparation of BOQ/Budget Sheets during Pre-Tender stages. Ensuring most competitive rate estimation, Tender document and procurement management capturing any project Risk and possible mitigations.
Key Responsibilities- Support Projects Director & work alongside Project Manager & Procurement to Co-ordinate all elements of the job from estimation through preproduction to delivery of the project and post project reconciliations.
- Co-ordinate between the relevant departments to ensure timely delivery of the project.
- Assist with interpreting client briefs and molding into a workable solution for estimating projects.
- Assist with production of Bill of Quantities, Delivery Notes and other paperwork essential to the project lifecycle process.
- Assist with checking budget sheets that Account Managers produce for standardized work.
- Obtain estimates from sub-contractors/suppliers and work to develop relationships to benefit both parties.
- Assist with Co-ordination between Arena staff and suppliers/contractors to ensure projects are planned effectively and delivered with appropriate quality.
- Communicate with members of the delivery team to ensure costs are kept within budget.
- Utilize working drawings to ensure works are quoted & manufactured with cost, availability & longevity in mind.
- Assist the project delivery team with reconciling supplier costs on projects.
- Checking the project budget before issuing LPOs to suppliers and responsible for following internal accounting and administrative processes.
- Assessing project financials to determine risk in a project and track the project margins.
- Review & Submit Variations for the supply chain as well as for client submissions
- Review & Submit Payments for the supply chain as well as for client submissions
Required Skills/Abilities:
- A naturally methodical and detail-driven person with strong administrative & communication skills.
- Ability to interpret ideas from words or sketches and communicate these by formal drawing methods.
- A willing attitude and an enthusiast for seeing things through.
- A willingness to work over the standard working hours is a requirement for this role.
- Computer literate, ability to use MS Outlook, Word and excellent working experience of Excel.
- Working knowledge of construction materials, methods & finishes used in Construction
- English is essential with a second language an advantage.
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate.
- Quantity Surveying diploma/degree is a must
- Experience in Post-contract is essential with Pre-contract as an advantage
- General Construction experience is a must
- Proven record of completing a project from A to Z
- Working knowledge and experience of having used CANDY.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
