Job purpose

Provide oversight on implementing conduct of maintenance on the assigned electrical systems and components in order to ensure plant safety and reliability. Provide overall supervision to the assigned electrical maintenance teams.

Key activities, responsibility & accountability

Electrical maintenance

• Oversee electrical maintenance to ensure all tasks are performed in a timely manner and with quality to achieve operational readiness and to operate with the highest level of safety and reliability.
• Review the electrical maintenance programs, procedures, and oversee their implementation to ensure their success.
• Monitor in liaison with engineering the performance of:
• The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) electrical equipment to include motors, motor generator sets, reactor coolant pump (RCP) motors, motor-operated valves (MOVs), crane and lighting, etc. to confirm appropriate function.
• The Balance of Plant (BOP) electrical equipment including power transformers, gas insulated bus (GIB), switchgear (SWGR), protective relays, electrical motors, main generator in diesel generator sets, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems, and MOVs to confirm appropriate function.
• Monitor short-term outage and prepare outage activity list to ensure plant downtime is optimized.
• Approve procurement requests for equipment spare parts and special tools to ensure electrical maintenance activities are properly resourced.
• Develop documents related to installation and service contracts to retain information relevant to those contracts.
• Conduct periodic and surveillance tests to confirm plant electrical system performance or identify deficiencies.
• Provide technical support for other plant groups to diffuse technical knowledge throughout the organization.
• Validate the updates to equipment and material master data within the material management system to ensure accuracy of equipment and material specifications in the plant with those in the warehouse.
• Verify that workers comply with the conduct of maintenance to ensure best practices are implemented.
• Lead the troubleshooting process on the electrical systems and components to ensure issues are resolved correctly and in a timely manner.
• Monitor compliance with foreign material exclusion (FME) procedures and guidelines to ensure the safety and reliability of the plants.

Professional certifications

Qualifications

Diploma or equivalent

• 6 years of relevant experience, out of which:
• 2 years power plant experience.
• 1 year nuclear power plant experience.
• Preferred 10 years APR-1400 or OPR-1000 maintenance and engineering experience.
