Site Engineer - Civil – GIS Substation

Job Description

Qualification: B.E. Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university

Approval from DEWA in the UAE is mandatory

• Should have Power & Transmission Industry Exposure.
• Experience in HV GIS Substation construction projects, 400 kV/132Kv voltage levels.
• Shall have at least 10 years experience after graduation, out of which at least 5 years of experience in GIS Substation projects.
• Experience in DEWA Substation projects is an added advantage.
• Shall have adequate knowledge of international standards and HSE requirements in the Power industry.
• Shall have adequate knowledge of information systems.

• Candidate shall have the knowledge of DEWA - Civil specifications / ITP's / Method statement for the activities carried out in the GIS substations.
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English with good technical skills applied to producing reports and literate in the use of MS Office applications.
• Must have experience working within an ISO Quality environment. Quality assurance procedures and quality audits shall be conducted in coordination with DEWA Engineers.
• Good knowledge of applicable design standards and codes is essential in the UAE / GCC countries.
• Supervise the Civil construction works of 400 / 132 kV Substations, projects during the execution stage, in line with the approved drawings and materials.
• Prepare daily site reports to ensure close monitoring of the EPC Contractor's civil progress activities. Attend progress meetings with contractors and consultants when required to support his superior/team leader.
• Follow and adhere to the OH&S Management System Manual as per Authority safety standards.
• Must be able to demonstrate initiative and flexibility both as an individual and as a strong team player, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Scrutinizing and approving the method statement for each activity and assuring that the work will proceed as per the method statement only. Coordinate with the main and subcontractors to ensure that civil construction is in accordance with contractual terms & conditions, with necessary quality parameters in the site activity
• Providing approvals to method statements, work procedures, and RFI.
• Evaluate the sub-contractors/ test agencies/ suppliers carrying out the work through physical verification, facilities, and documentary evidence showing their product approvals
• Certifying main contractor Billing, Conducting Technical /Monthly Progress Review meetings with the main contractor.
• Witnessing the Trial Mix Design and Compaction tests, witnessing all materials tests involved in Concrete, namely aggregate, sand, cement, and Reinforcement Steel, including other associated additives and compounds, and providing necessary approvals at the site.
• Responsible for quality control of all materials involved and construction activities, and leverage the progress of work by carefully monitoring the work progress and highlighting the bottleneck delays with clients, with safety implementations of work.
• Experience in different types of Cast Insitu & Precast foundations and dewatering systems.
• Candidate shall be aware of the Soil Improvement methods like Stone column / Piling works.
• Management of the site activities, interfacing with other disciplines. Working knowledge of MS Office, report writing, and Presentation skills.
• Approval from DEWA (TED Code) / Other utilities authorities in the UAE shall be an added advantage.
