Job Description

JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer plays a vital role in supporting the Management System by maintaining processes and procedures, supporting risk management, investigating quality and safety events, performing audits, and ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and quality standards.

This position focuses on maintaining the company&aposs approvals, supporting external audits, and enhancing operational quality and safety.

  1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  2. Maintaining the Management System Processes (15% of time):
  • Ensure the continuous improvement and adherence to the company&aposs Management System processes and procedures.
  1. Supporting the Risk Management Process (5% of time):
  • Assist in identifying, assessing, and managing risks within the organization. Maintain the risk register and support risk mitigation efforts.
  1. Performing and Supporting Investigations on Quality and Safety Events (Product) (10% of time):
  • Conduct investigations into quality and safety events related to products, providing necessary support for corrective and preventive actions.
  1. Perform Audit and Surveillance Activities and Support External Audits (25% of time):
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with aviation regulations and quality standards.
  • Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  1. Supporting the Maintenance and Achieving Company Approvals (20% of time):
  • Collaborate with authorities and customers to maintain and achieve necessary approvals.
  • Manage responses and communications with regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with requirements.
  1. Support the Development and Maintenance of Required Documents for Company Approvals (20% of time):
  • Develop and maintain documents such as MOE (Maintenance Organization Exposition), Supplements, Capability List, etc., necessary for company approvals.
  1. Other Duties as Required (5% of time):
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor/manager to support the overall objectives of the department and organization
  1. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

Minimum Qualifications:

Licensure/Professional Membership)
  • High school diploma + associate degree/vocational/technical school degree in quality assurance/management or related discipline. Bachelors degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of solid and relevant experience in the field can substitute for a bachelors degree.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance roles in the aviation industry.

Job Specific Competencies:

  1. Aviation Regulations Knowledge: Understanding of relevant aviation regulations applicable to MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) operations, including regulations from aviation authorities such as FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) or EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency). Knowledge of aviation regulations is critical to ensuring that all activities within the MRO facility comply with legal requirements. This includes understanding guidelines related to maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards specific to the aviation industry.
  2. Safety Management Systems and Quality Management Systems: Proficiency in Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS) applicable to aviation industry standards. Safety Management Systems focus on hazard identification, risk management, and promoting a safety culture within the organization. Quality Management Systems emphasize adherence to quality standards, process efficiency, and continuous improvement. Proficiency in both ensures the organization operates safely and maintains high-quality standards.
  3. Auditing Techniques and Investigation Skills: Ability to conduct effective internal audits and investigations, ensuring compliance and identifying areas for improvement. Auditing techniques involve assessing internal processes to ensure they align with established standards and regulations. Investigation skills are crucial for identifying the root causes of incidents, defects, or non-compliance issues. Both skills are essential for maintaining and enhancing the quality and safety of products and processes.
  4. Visual Management: Knowledge of visual management techniques to enhance organizational processes and efficiency. Visual management involves using visual cues such as charts, graphs, and diagrams to represent information clearly and concisely. This method aids in understanding complex data, identifying trends, and monitoring key performance indicators. Visual management enhances communication, enabling quick decision-making and process optimization within the organization.
  5. Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft 365 tools for data analysis, reporting, and documentation purposes. Basic understanding of product technology related to aviation components. Technical proficiency in tools like Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) is vital for analyzing quality and safety data, creating reports, and documenting procedures. Additionally, having a basic understanding of aviation product technology ensures effective communication with technical teams, facilitating problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  6. Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions to problems related to quality and safety. Problem-solving skills are vital for addressing challenges that arise in quality assurance and safety procedures. The ability to analyze data, investigate issues, and devise innovative solutions ensures continuous improvement and prevention of recurring problems.
  7. Attention to Detail: Thoroughness and accuracy in work, ensuring all aspects of quality standards and safety protocols are met. Quality Engineers must pay meticulous attention to detail to identify discrepancies, defects, or non-compliance issues. Attention to detail is crucial when conducting audits, investigations, and documentation, ensuring all aspects of processes align with established standards.
  8. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally. Effective interpersonal skills for collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders. Quality Engineers frequently interact with various stakeholders, including team members, managers, auditors, and regulatory authorities. Clear and effective communication ensures that instructions, reports, and findings are understood accurately, fostering a collaborative and informed work environment.
  9. Time Management and Prioritization: Skill in managing multiple tasks, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines. Quality Engineers often work on diverse projects simultaneously.
