Job Summary:

The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations of the organization, steering its financial strategy and planning. This role is responsible for managing financial activities, including monitoring cash flow, evaluating financial strengths and weaknesses, and recommending corrective measures.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Strategy: Formulate and execute financial objectives, strategies, and budgets aligned with organizational goals. Assess financial performance and propose enhancements.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Produce timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and projections. Analyze data, identify trends, and share insights with stakeholders while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and predict financial outcomes. Track budget adherence, address variances, and apply corrective measures.
  • Cash Flow Management: Supervise cash flow planning to secure sufficient funds for operations and investments. Optimize working capital and mitigate liquidity risks.
  • Financial Operations: Implement robust internal controls and procedures for financial processes. Oversee accounting, payroll, tax compliance, and audits.
  • Risk Management: Identify and address financial risks. Secure appropriate insurance, evaluate investment prospects, and maintain relationships with financial institutions.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with senior leadership and other departments to enhance financial performance, support decision-making, and identify growth and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Fundraising Support: Assist leadership with fundraising efforts, including preparing financial models and supporting presentations.
  • Banking Relationships: Manage banking partnerships and collaborate with relationship managers to enhance available banking facilities.
  • System Integration: Develop strategies to improve integration of ERP systems with financial planning tools and software.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are preferred.
  • Experience in a Finance Controller or comparable finance position.
  • In-depth understanding of financial principles, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey financial information to non-financial audiences.
  • Ability to handle complex financial scenarios, adapt to change, and make informed decisions.
