Job purpose
The Operational Planning section orchestrates seamless aircraft maintenance through its specialized teams: Aircraft Scheduling, Line Planning, Line Support Planning, Base Operations Planning, Base Heavy Planning, and Projects.
We ensure optimal ground-time utilization by aligning maintenance schedules with work scoping and planning functions. Our Aircraft Scheduling team coordinates maintenance windows to minimize flight disruptions. Work Scoping defines precise maintenance packages, while Modification Planning manages everything from minor upgrades to major structural improvements.Special Projects tackle unique tasks like end-of-lease work and storage management.

The Planning Supervisor - Operational Planning will administer the program and management functions within the Maintenance / Operational Planning, and Reliability sections for all aircraft types, engines, and components. Carry out the preparation, planning, regulatory and performance reporting of key airworthiness tasks, reliability information, ensuring that the Emirates fleet is maintained to the required standards of quality and airworthiness as defined by the regulatory authority and Engineering Procedures Manual.
In this role, you will:
- Supervise and provide training and developmental opportunities to the team members to facilitate knowledge dissemination, skill & process improvements, procedural awareness, ensuring elimination of inefficient methods, enhanced productivity, and implementation of departmental improvements / system changes. Administer updates for KPI / Error measurement processes & continual improvement initiatives. Provide supervision and guidance daily for all direct reports and team members & provide ongoing update to subordinate personnel based on fleet / destination developments and Corporate / Departmental financial & business performance.
- Ensure team members adhere to the Time and Attendance policy, challenge underperformance and that every team member has a fully developed MyBC development plan and goals and receives at least 1 interim review and a final review within the MyBC window & is provided with continual objective feedback to ensure developmental improvements in line with Operational business needs & career enhancement opportunities. Ensure your own development activities and examples and details of how you have met MyBC criteria are updated into the system for your supervisor to evaluate.
- Act as deputy for immediate supervisor and actively seek improvement opportunities within the departments and interface business units to create and deliver proactive beneficial changes to the group. Provide coordination for the functional section for all overhauls Agencies, MRO, Third Party and Lessor Reporting / Phase Out activities managed by that section. Support assigned Section / Department by publishing reports and supporting documentation as requirement to enable accomplishment of adhoc requests, customer support and standard operating processes.
- Ensure creation and applicability of all maintenance work packages and work scope requirements from the Ultramain system to ensure the ongoing maintenance and modifications required to ensure compliance of the Emirates fleet in the Line, Base Ops, Base Light and Heavy Maintenance environments.
- Administer the compilation, closure, and auditing of work packages for maintenance checks and other work requirements on aircraft. Feedback discrepancies to production and ensure all open issues are identified and published to Planning Engineer. Ensure that all task cards have been issued with correct attachments supporting the maintenance production teams.
- Ensure that all work packages are compliant with all regulatory requirements. To administer the day-to-day activities in the Line Maintenance, Base Ops and Base heavy, to ensure aircraft compliance is maintained through work pack creation and control. To prepare work packages for outsourced maintenance activities.
- 12 years of schooling.
- 4 years in engineering planning.
- Preferred in aircraft scheduling / maintenance planning.
- Job holder must be fully conversant with aircraft documentation and records including AMM, IPC, work packages and maintenance schedules.
- Job holder must have understanding of aircraft / power plant systems and components.
- Sound knowledge of computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
- Knowledge & use of airline / MRO M&E data management & digital documentations systems is preferred.
- Knowledge & experience in the application & administration of aircraft regulatory & legislation requirements associated with airworthiness compliance & management.
