About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Tunnel / Structural Engineer to lead design delivery for tunnelling projects, including structural support systems and permanent lining.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed design and analysis of tunnels, shafts, caverns, and underground structures
- Deliver designs using TBM, NATM/SEM, and Cut-and-Cover construction methods
- Develop, verify, and review design calculations, models, and technical outputs
- Prepare and review complex technical reports and design documentation
- Ensure designs meet client requirements, technical standards, and HSEQ requirements
- Coordinate with geotechnical, structural, and multidisciplinary teams
- Support drawing production and ensure compliance with SJ procedures
- Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities to improve design outcomes
- Contribute to proposals, tenders, and business development activities
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior engineers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 6-10 years of experience in tunnelling and underground infrastructure projects
- Strong experience in tunnel design, including lining and support systems
- Experience with TBM, NATM/SEM, and/or Cut-and-Cover methods
- Familiarity with relevant international standards and specifications
- Experience with design and analysis tools (e.g., PLAXIS, MIDAS, or similar)
- Strong technical reporting and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team delivery
