The role
Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC Senior Procurement Engineer for one of our key clients in Abu Dhabi as part of our ADNOC Gas PMC team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business. Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be full time office based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The key objectives for this role are:
- Lead procurement strategy execution: drive procurement activities for major equipment and services in alignment with project budgets, schedules, and technical requirements.
- Strengthen supplier relationships: build and maintain strong partnerships with qualified vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
- Ensure contract compliance and optimization: review, negotiate, and finalize purchase orders, ensuring terms meet legal and commercial standards while minimizing risk.
- Support cross-functional integration: collaborate with engineering, planning, and finance teams to streamline procurement workflows and meet project milestones.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives: identify opportunities for value engineering and alternative sourcing to optimize costs without compromising quality or delivery.
Responsibilities
The Senior Procurement Engineer will be responsible for executing procurement activities across FEED and detailed design phases, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and technical specifications. They will add value by understanding internal requirements and delivering competitive, quality-driven sourcing strategies.The role includes coordinating with cross-functional teams, supporting tender evaluations, and monitoring procurement compliance in line with the Quality Management System (QMS). The engineer will also provide regular updates on procurement progress and contribute to risk mitigation and supplier performance tracking.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
- Procurement strategy execution: develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project objectives, cost targets, and delivery schedules.
- Vendor sourcing and evaluation: identify, assess, and qualify suppliers through market research, technical evaluations, and commercial analysis to ensure optimal value and compliance.
- Contract negotiation and management: lead negotiations for pricing, terms, and conditions; prepare and manage purchase orders and subcontract agreements in line with company policies and project requirements.
- Technical review and compliance: review engineering specifications and drawings to ensure procurement aligns with technical standards and client expectations.
- Procurement process oversight: manage end-to-end procurement activities from requisition to delivery, including RFQs, bid evaluations, and order tracking.
- Supplier performance monitoring: conduct regular audits and performance reviews to ensure supplier compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
- Cross-functional coordination: collaborate with engineering, planning, finance, and legal teams to ensure procurement decisions support overall project execution.
- Reporting and documentation: maintain accurate procurement records and generate reports on procurement status, cost trends, and supplier KPIs.
- Risk management and cost control: identify potential risks in procurement activities and implement mitigation strategies; support cost-saving initiatives and value engineering.
- Mentorship and team support: guide junior procurement staff, share best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement within the procurement function.

Expected:
- Bachelor of Engineering in related discipline
- Experience as procurement engineer
- Minimum 15 years of experience in oil and gas industry with 5 years of experience in similar role
- ADNOC projects experience is mandatory
