The Workshop Maintenance Engineer I will carry out routine maintenance tasks and defect rectification of aircraft components as per company and associated regulatory procedures.

Generic
  • Carry out aircraft components maintenance and servicing tasks in compliance with manufacturer and safety procedures.
  • Ensure that assigned aircraft components are maintained as per latest revisions of approved authority technical publications such as CMM, aircraft documentation, technical notices, quality notices, and engineering procedures manual, etc.
  • Ensure that personal approvals/licences are valid and applicable to aircraft components type/scope.
  • Determine if tooling/equipment used is serviceable and appropriate for the task and use specialised tooling where required.
  • Ensure that troubleshooting procedures/tools used for fault rectification are carried out in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that all activities performed are carried out in accordance with all safety rules and regulations and in adherence to company procedures, highlighting any deficiencies/requirements through the effective use of reporting tools.
  • Ensure all work locations are kept clean and excellent housekeeping conditions are maintained.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues including managers and senior engineers to ensure a seamless flow of information and to highlight any potential operational issues.
  • Manage the performance of staff using performance review process and system. Ensure SMART goal setting, interim/annual reviews, and development plans are in place for assigned staff members in accordance with company procedures.
  • Attend training/recurrent modules as required to enhance skills and comply with CAR 145 requirements.
  • Ensure resources and manpower available support the business needs allowing targets/milestones to be adequately achieved.
  • Ensure that available resources are utilized fully to meet the business needs.
  • Ensure for all staff allocated to him/her and themselves to efficiently clock on/clock off job cards in the process of performing their usual duties.
  • Must be available to assume duties and responsibilities of shift manager/senior engineer shift whenever delegated by the section manager.
Specific functions for wheels brakes
  • Responsible to perform, assist, and support all Overhaul/Repair/Inspection tasks required for wheel brake as well as any activity related to chapter 32 of CMM within Wheel Brake Shop.
  • Responsible for corrective actions, root cause analysis, and risk/opportunity analysis of any findings.
Specific functions for airframe components
  • Proactively identify new capabilities build-up opportunities of aircraft components and conduct feasibility study, justify the requirement of establishing new capabilities via Research and Development (R&D), cost benefit analysis (business cases) to enhance the workshop's capabilities.
  • Be conversant with 145 AMO regulatory framework.
  • Liaise with company internal compliance monitoring teams for obtaining necessary regulatory approvals for shop activities.
  • Lead the project to build up the agreed new aircraft components capabilities until it is approved by regulatory.
  • Liaise with Fleet Technical Management (Engineering Technical Services - ETS), Part 21 DOA, UAE GCAA MOA (Manufacturing Organization), Component Repair or Reliability Departments for gathering facts and solid justification data for the capability establishment.
  • Define new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) or Process Instruction Manuals / Stage Sheets / Work Order Job Cards that allow shop engineers to practice new capability deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the technical proficiency of the workshop's staff.
  • Introduce external training / refresher training to allow authorization approval scopes of certifying engineers remain valid.
  • Liaise with Technical Publications, ETS and ensure all workshop publications (CMM, CMM-TR, SILs, CMM-ICA documents) are available for workshop personnel access.
  • Coordinate with internal related stakeholders to implement the built/approved new capabilities in the workshop until the output of production is fully compliant with regulations.
  • Participate in company internal compliance monitoring 145 audits, external EASA 145 or GCAA CAR 145 audits and demonstrate workshop regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Be involved in any potential optimization and/or continual improvement if applicable for the newly built-up capabilities.

Qualification

To be considered for this role you must meet the below criteria:

  • Degree in aeronautical subjects/mechanical/avionics/electronic/tech engineering OR aircraft maintenance engineering licence OR engineering apprenticeship.
  • 12 years experience in aircraft maintenance engineering related fields.
  • 7+ years as a certifying staff in the relevant area airframe components.
  • Degree in engineering systems/processes or commercial subject streams considered as an added advantage.
  • Capable of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA V5 or similar CAD/CAM packages. Ability to produce own CAD drawings when need arises.
  • 10+ years experience in MRO 145 workshop engineering streams as a subject matter expert of airframe mechanical systems (hydraulic components/pneumatic components).
  • Experience in hydraulic/pneumatic/fuel & oil/landing gears components capability build-up, preferred B-777 and A-380 related components, and the approval for components.
  • Project management experience with 6 Sigma/Lean/aircraft component capability build-up certification and proven experience with PMP, Prince 2, Agile or Lean process engineering systems.
  • Knowledge of latest technical developments and industry trends on respective technology (example: 3D printing, additive manufacturing etc.).
  • Ability to analyse and synthesise technical information for implementation in cost-effective ways.
  • Excellent drafting/report writing skills and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing complex tasks and decision making in a fast-paced environment.
