RAK American School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic school librarian to join our team for the upcoming academic year. The ideal candidate will foster a love of reading and learning in students, manage the school/u2019s library resources effectively, and support both students and teachers in the development of research and information literacy skills.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library, including cataloging, organizing, and maintaining library resources.
• Assist students and staff in selecting appropriate resources for research and reading.
• Promote a positive and engaging reading culture throughout the school.
• Develop and implement library programs and activities to encourage reading and information literacy.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom instruction.
• Provide library orientation and information literacy training to students and staff.
• Maintain a system for tracking books, materials, and resources, ensuring availability and accessibility.

Qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor/u2019s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field (Master/u2019s degree preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a school librarian or in a related library field.
• Knowledge of library management software and digital resources.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• A passion for reading, education, and supporting student learning.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
• Must be western trained (USA, Canada, UK, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand & South Africa).
